Good Hood Club

Hero Hoodie

The Hoodie Hoodie is a part of our Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM) Collection and specifically honours children suffering from cancer and undergoing chemotherapy 🎗(Model is wearing a size M)

Chemotherapy is a general term used to describe the mixture of cytotoxic medications that block cancer growth. Chemotherapy is the most common method of treatment for children diagnosed with cancer.

Commonly, chemotherapy drugs are administered intravenously; however, children who require intense treatment therapies will receive special injection devices like a port-a-cath or peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC). These special injection devices require surgery before they can be used to administer chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy is associated with an abundance of side effects. These side effects result from damage done to healthy cells, by chemotherapy drugs, in the process of killing off cancerous cells. Side-effects may be short-term or long-term. It depends on the nature or length of treatment. Common side effects include: low blood cell counts, nausea and vomiting, hair loss, nervous system damage, heart problems, reproductive issues (for both male and females), fatigue etc.

Ultimately, chemotherapy is a long and strenuous process. Therefore, it is necessary to acknowledge the bravery exuded by childhood cancer patients while undergoing chemotherapy.

Thank you for your purchase and for honouring the accomplishments and challenges of children with cancer, their families and survivors in Ontario and beyond.
