Brave Hoodie

The Brave Hoodie is a part of our Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM) Collection and specifically honours children suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) 🎗(Model is wearing a size L)

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common type of cancer in children. In a kid with ALL, too many "leukemia cells" are produced by the bone marrow. As a result, the leukemia cells overpower the healthy cells and leave the child sick.

Children with ALL must be treated immediately. Without treatment, a child will only survive a few months; however, about 80%-90% of children with ALL will reach remission with the appropriate treatment. After achieving remission, however, about 50% of these people will relapse. Ultimately, the 5-year survival rate for children with ALL is 94%, making it a relatively treatable cancer.

The treatment for ALL is long. It typically takes a child 2-4 years to reach remission. This process is an extremely long and painful one for children with ALL and their families. Chemotherapy is the main treatment for children with ALL. They may also be treated with stem cell transplants, targeted therapy and radiation therrapy. Survivors of ALL will need to have regular check-ups.

Thank you for your purchase and for honouring the accomplishments and challenges of childhood ALL patients, their families and survivors in Ontario and beyond.
